One of our favourite Canadian pop-rock groups, Marianas Trench, never seem to stop moving. On the heels of their US Hey You Guys Tour, the Canadian rockers are back on the road, continuing to take their latest LP Astoria around North America — this time Canada — with their Never Say Die Tour
For those who don’t know (who are you?), Astoria is a concept album inspired by the 1980s, as well as the incredible films and sounds of the decade — you know, as if the band didn’t already give us all of the nostalgic feels.
The boys’ Never Say Die Tour (a quote from the brilliant ’80s movie The Goonies) hits Toronto’s Air Canada Centre tomorrow — March 22nd — and throughout Western Canada in the coming weeks — and chances are, you aren’t ready.
If you’re a fan of Vancouverites Josh Ramsay, Matt Webb, Mike Ayley, and Ian Casselman, you know that their four-part harmonies, on point concert garb and immersive crowd interaction are all integral components of their concerts.
We here at ANDPOP caught their show at Oshawa’s General Motors Centre over the weekend (March 19th) to let Trenchers know what to expect this time around:
Frontman Josh Ramsay’s KILLER bod:
GET IT JOSH.
An INCREDIBLE opening act:
Marianas Trench recruited fellow Canadians/#TeamInternet sensation Walk Off The Earth for their opening act during the #NeverSayDieTour — and trust us, they are as entertaining and talented as you think they are. Highlights include their live versions of iconic covers — including the viral “Somebody That I Used To Know” (complete with the full band playing one acoustic guitar) — their use of obscure instruments, and the booming renditions of originals like “Red Hands” and “Rule The World” — a.k.a PERFECT arena anthems.

But actually, how does one sing that well upside down?!

True rock ‘n’ roll showmanship:
No one puts on a glam rock show quite like Marianas Trench. The forgotten genre is given a breath of new life thanks to Ramsay’s no-holds-barred performance, captivating stage presence, and killer themed threads.
Finally, THOSE HARMONIES THOUGH:
It’s as if the skies opened up and a choir of angels descended onto the stage.
